Service Description

*Chemical peels* are cosmetic procedures used to improve the appearance and texture of the skin by applying a chemical solution that causes exfoliation and peeling of the outer layer of the skin. These treatments can be performed on the face, neck, or hands to address various skin concerns. Chemical peels are categorized based on their depth of penetration: superficial, medium, or deep. Types of Chemical Peels: Superficial Peels: These peels use mild acids, such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), to exfoliate the outer layer of the skin. Superficial peels are often used to improve skin texture, treat mild sun damage, and address fine lines. Medium Peels: This type of peel penetrates deeper into the skin, using stronger acids like trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Medium peels can address more pronounced wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and some superficial skin lesions. Deep Peels: Deep peels penetrate the middle layer of the skin and typically use phenol or a combination of acids. These peels are more aggressive and are reserved for more severe skin issues, such as deep wrinkles, scars, and precancerous growths. Deep peels may require more downtime. Conditions Treated: Acne Scars: Chemical peels can improve the appearance of acne scars, especially with medium and deep peels. Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Peels are often used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes and mouth. Sun Damage: Chemical peels can help address sun-damaged skin, including sunspots and uneven pigmentation. Uneven Skin Tone and Texture: Peels are effective in improving skin texture and promoting a more even complexion. Downtime and Recovery: Superficial peels may have minimal downtime, with some redness and peeling. Medium peels may involve more pronounced peeling, and individuals may need to plan for a few days to a week of recovery. Deep peels have a more extended recovery period, and individuals may experience significant peeling and redness. Sun Protection: Sun protection is crucial after a chemical peel to prevent sun damage and aid in the healing process. Precautions: Individuals with certain skin conditions, a history of keloid scarring, or those who are pregnant should consult with a healthcare professional before undergoing a chemical peel.
